Don't let your company make the same mistake as Kodak

The Kodak company was undoubtedly the great giant of photography. Now it no longer exists. And the main reason for the bankruptcy of the company was not believing in technological evolution and settling for or preferring the "security" of what is known.

In 1975 a company employee, Steven Sasson, introduced his bosses to the first digital camera. Yes, you read that right, the first digital camera in 1975. But his bosses rejected the idea.

Kodak had a large part of their business selling roll film or reels and they thought it too risky to launch a technology that didn't need film. They decided the "security" and the "current benefits" of the known prevailing over the innovation and future that was presented in front of their noses.

After his disappointment that his idea was not accepted, Steven contacted Sony, who accepted his idea and soon after flooded the market. with digital cameras. As is well known, the evolution of digital cameras against analogue ones with film did not go back.

Logically, Kodak also later launched a digital camera, but without the enormous competitive advantage of having been one of the first; they never really came back to life and, finally, in 2012 they presented the company's bankruptcy.

It is a good example of how a company with more than 80 years of success behind it (it was founded in 1892) made a mistake for not having known how to anticipate, take advantage of and understand the new technological changes that were imminently coming our way.
